Coenzyme Q10 or ubiquinol is a natural catalysing enzyme playing an important role in the energy producing mechanisms (ATP) of cells, produced by the organism itself. It is mainly obtained in mitochondria, a component of the electron transport chain, taking part in aerobic cell respiration by ATP production. 95% of the energy in our body is produced this way. Thus, its highest concentration is available in the heart, liver and kidneys. Over the thirties, the production of coenzyme Q10 tends to decrease, thus its supplement from external sources is needed! Due to its strong antioxidant effects it protects cells against damaging oxidative effects. It actively takes part in slowing down aging processes, promotes the healthy functioning of the cardiovascular and the central nervous system, and is essential for adequate energy supply of the cells.
